Affiliate Marketing Tips: The New Way of Building Links And Gaining Traffic

Google has given us affiliate marketing professionals a terrible time recently. They are tightening up the quality control and putting up quite a challenge when it comes to being able to rank well in the SERPS.

Sites that had thousands of dollars spent on them to improve their rankings have come crashing to the ground due to the changes made by Google. People who had invested a lot of time and money were thrown into mayhem and have been scrambling to find a new way of getting results.

The major search engine influencers in the affiliate marketing world have been sharing their opinion on the use of social media with regard to ranking. They are stating that it's the way forward and is going to feature heavily as a ranking tool for the major search engines. You see the search engines don't have control over social media. Some of the social media sites are the biggest and most powerful sites out there - and that's all good news for us who are trying to pass on some of that power to our own sites.

Social media can also deliver traffic to us directly through our posts and relationship building on sites like Facebook and Twitter. It could be that article marketing is the next casualty when it comes to the axe of Google - and us affiliate marketing professionals. Time spent invested in writing articles and having them link back to your site could well be better invested in social media.

Keep these thoughts in mind as you plan your affiliate marketing traffic building strategy:

- Social media is in your control. You can determine what content you are distributing to your connections. When it comes to article marketing, none of us know if Google is going to decide to give this ranking influencer the chop out of the equation or algorithm.

- Your content is getting indexed. With some article marketing and some back linking there is no guarantee that your links will ever get indexed. With social media you know that they will be - as these sites get crawled all the time by Google.

- Traffic, traffic, traffic. Social networking sites have so many people on there. Think about all the visitors there are to sites like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. The traffic numbers are huge. You just need to tap into them. With article marketing, you can get lost in the masses of articles.

Google and back link building can cause digestive problems I'm sure - I bet there's many an affiliate marketing professional out there who are suffering from ulcers! Google keeps moving the goal posts and nobody knows where they will be moved to next. I know some people who don't do any link building, but they concentrate solely on making comments.

As long as the content that you create is of good quality and highly shareable, then it is likely to get shared.

Have I given up article marketing? No, not yet, but I will be considering my options over the next few weeks. I'll let you know what I decide, but in the meantime, I'm continuing with my affiliate marketing tips on a weekly basis.
